The author of The Diabetes Code, Dr. Jason Fung is a Nephrologist, Author, and a leading expert in using intermittent fasting and low carb to treat obesity and type-2 diabetes.

In this book, Dr. Fung makes an easy-to-understand argument why the current approach for treatment for type-2 diabetes does not work.

He starts with a Quick Start Guide for Preventing and Treating type-2 diabetes. This is for those who prefer not to delve into the “Why” his approach works better and just get started. I recommend that the reader take the time to read the whole book. He discusses how a high-carbohydrate, low-fat diet leads to type-2 diabetes. He does this by using easy-to-understand analogies using everyday scenarios.

Dr. Fung explains why a low-carbohydrate diet and intermittent fasting controls obesity. He contrasts this with the current method of treatment that involves portion control and exercise. The classic “Eat Less Move More” approach.

Finally, for those who are interested, Dr. Fung provides a starter menu and eating scheduler for both the 30-hour and 36-hour intermittent fasting.

If you have ever tried the portion control approach to dieting, then I know you have experienced a plateau in your progress. Then this might just be the book to help you continue on your journey towards a lighter and healthier you.
